Biographical Facts Jane Austen was born on the 16 th of December 1775 at Steventon Rectory in Hampshire. She was publicly christened almost four months later on the 5 th of April 1776. Jane was the seventh of eight children to parents George (a vicar) and Cassandra. Her six brothers were called James, George, Edward, Henry, Francis and Charles and her sister Cassandra. After her first few months, Austen’s mother
