CHAPTER 1: Ashley became unrecognizable My mother, in her heavy sweater, was shivering. She was shivering like someone who’d been savagely hit by a heavy downpour. I couldn’t imagine that it was the same disease that had been walking around; the one that had said hello to Rosina and me.
