This book is dedicated to my two daughters, J. Michele Jackson and Elizabeth R. Jackson, without whose love, faith and support my wife, Vivian, * and I could never have survived our darkest years of crisis. May the things you sowed into our lives be repaid a hundred times over!

T his book is a story of a powerful journey I have taken over the past seven years. Without my wife, Vivian, I never would have been able to complete the journey. She is truly inspiration personified.
My beloved daughters, J. Michele and Elizabeth, and my mother, Essie, have also spent countless hours and unbounded energy seeing to my needs, physically, emotionally and mentally. This care gave me the capacity to hear from the Holy Spirit and learn the lessons that I have shared in this volume.
Jim Nelson Black has painstakingly put feet to the sermons that bore the principles contained in these pages. Thanks to his vision and strategic writing gift, I was able to extract precious nuggets of truth and to present them clearly for our readers. He also has a spirit of excellence that enhances the concepts and stories through this work.
Jane Campbell has always been an encouragement to me. She was one of the first people to discern that my ministry team and I had valuable things to share with the Body of Christ through the written word. Without her encouragement, I would have never been able to focus time, energy and resources we have on our writing projects.
I appreciate Jeff Braun, our editor on this project. He brought a wealth of theological content, perspective and professionalism to the book development process. There are too many others at Chosen Books, including Carra Carr and the entire marketing and sales team, who are a wonderful group of people.
I appreciate Jan Sherman and her being involved in all the writing projects over the years. Nonetheless, the caliber of the work on this project has passed anything we have done before. Without her input and project management, I could not have pulled all the elements of this project together.
Most of all, thank You, Father, for this opportunity to share my understanding of Your love, grace and faithfulness. May this project and our ministry bring glory to Your name for many years to come.
Introduction
The Promise of Transforming Grace
H as it happened to you? In the darkest hours of life, have you come face-to-face with your greatest need? Maybe you looked in the mirror one morning and saw someone you no longer recognized, or someone you no longer wanted to be. Maybe you have struggled with the loss of a loved one, a spouse, a dear friend or a relationship that somehow went wrong. Or maybe, like me, you have heard the sobering words from a doctor telling you, “The diagnosis is not good.” In these and similar situations, there is hope. But in every case, our greatest need is for someone to rescue us.
When accidents happen, when illness strikes or when the rent comes due and things are completely out of control, what we need is someone to walk beside us and keep us from stum
