Screams o terror rîpped troug te darkness. ïndîgo awoke wît a start. An îcy cî sot troug er. he screamîng was îg-pîtced and prîmîtîve. Jerkîng up-wards, se attempted to sît up, desperate to awaken uy; but sometîng ad od o er aîr, tuggîng ît, pînnîng er to te bed. he srî sound întensîIed. Fear grîpped er în îts vîce-îke skeeta cutces, sootîng to er bowes. Her ears and troat urt and suddeny se reaîsed tat te dreadu screams were er own. he dîgîts o te cock gowed red în te darkness readîng 4 a.m. and, as reaîsatîon dawned, te screams ceased. Sense prevaîed. Anoter nîgtmare ad vîsîted er and se ad been yîng on er ong dark aîr. Wrîggîng rom te constraînts o er restess seep, se Lîcked on te sîde îgt, starîng manîcay înto te gow. Cammy skîn saturated în a cod sweat, er wîd ammerîng eart beatîng at an exposîve speed. Feeîng battered and exausted, se ay back on te sot wîte pump pîows îke a convaescîng patîent, aowîng er mînd to drît back to te dream tat ad terrîIed er.

A smatterîng o wîspy couds partîay bocked te a-moon rom tîme to tîme. ïndîgo was runnîng aong a pat at te sîde o a Ied near er ome. Dark green eaves rusted to er rîgt and sîver prîcky barbed wîre gînted în te moonîgt to te et. he Ied was u o sadowy back orses and se coud ee energy sur-roundîng er. A sensatîon began to buîd în er ands, înîtîay te sîze o a tennîs ba, îke a uge orce sweîng, growîng arger. ït was as toug se was cuppîng sometîng poweru. Frîgtened,
se ganced beînd er. Sometîng was oowîng er, casîng er. A presence tat se coudn’t see but knew was tere. Se awoke wît a start, or so se tougt, but coudn’t Ind er amp. eapîng out o bed, se rused to te maîn îgt swîtc on te ar wa. Turnîng, ïndîgo saw erse yîng în bed ast aseep, pae and peaceu but empty o îe-orce, wît ong dark aîr spread over te wîte pîowcase. For a moment se et upset tat se’d dîed and a sînkîng eeîng o dîsappoîntment engued er. Se adn’t done a te tîngs se wanted to do yet. ïndîgo wasn’t ready to dîe. A practîca camness descended teîng er tat se was în te wrong pace and soud return to er body. Se tîptoed back to te bed.
