Each and every day we wake up from our beds, and while walking amongst millions of crowds, we may secretly tell ourselves... "They don't know what we have been through Don't let them confuse you Even though they know you I know your weaknesses I know that you get lonely And when you get so scared You fear the worst But, I say, let go of fear and a mind full of chaos, develop your strengths and live up to your potential, and experience a marvelous world full of love and adventures."

About The Author
Marthailyn is a quiet, shy, and understanding person. Growing up, she was not self-disciplined and she was never organized in mind. She didn’t know who she was or what she wanted to do with her life. She is not perfect and has not achieved much, but since having her daughter, her life has been a long-term adventure, and in the process of knowing who she is, she has found her purpose. She is determined to achieve and make something of herself someday, to be a good role model for her daughter.
Dedication
I dedicate this book to God, my father and savior, who has been so loving and caring towards me. I couldn’t have done this without His intervention. I thank you, heavenly Father, for your strength and knowledge.
To my mama and papa, thank you both for all the support, encouragement, and prayers. I love you both with all my heart.
To my daughter, because of you, I have strived to become a better person. And even though life has been a bumpy ride from the day you came into this world, each time we fall, we rise up together. My beautiful diamond, I love you so much.
To my friends, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful friendship we have had over the past few years. Thank you all for the help, good advice, and support. My deepest love for you all is eternal.

Acknowledgment
I would like to acknowledge my deepest and sincerest appreciation and gratitude to God, my creator; to my advisor – my papa – for his encouragement; and to all those who believed in me and helped me on this wonderful journey.
Description
I allow my true self to show through my writings. It helps me with my personal development, expressing myself, and experimenting with different words.
As I am writing my story with pride in my eyes, I dedicate it to the weak-minded, the homeless who crave nothing but love and shelter, and the motherless and fatherless children. There’s always light in the darkest moments of our lives. Stay strong and just keep holding on.
Introduction
I’m Stacy Ann and my best characteristic is that I’m a very quiet but an understanding person. I’ve been through a lot in my young adult years of living on this earth, so it’s easier for me to understand someone else’s situation. I am also the type of person who is very positive about every aspect of life. There are many things that I like to see and experience. Moreover, I like to communicate with people and get to know new interesting individuals. Now, not everyone will understand my journey in life, but what we don’t understand we fear, and some people might even create their own version of what I’m about to write, but it really doesn’t matter because I am just writing MY thoughts, feelings, and parts of my life. It may be interesting to others and to some…it may not. But that is what makes people so interesting.
Oh, My Home

(Is Where I Belong)
I packed my things, ready to travel around the world.
To see different cultures, because I have a lot to see.
And I have a lot to learn, but I will be back home again.
My home is where I belong,
Oh, my home is where I belong.
The memories I have with me are from home.
The strength that I have with me is from home.
Oh, can’t you see it’s written all over me
That my home is where I belong,
Oh, my home is where I belong.
Because of the civil war in Liberia from 1989 until 1996, my family and I were separated, and over 200,000 innocent people and children were killed. Husbands witnessed their wives getting raped before being brutally murdered. Wives tearfully and frighteningly witnessed their husbands being handed guns to kill their loved ones. Families’ lives were destroyed, and young uneducated boys were captured, brainwashed, and forced to commit crimes that shocked the world. And young girls were forced into sex slavery. It was a devastating time. War affected people’s lives in so many different ways. It changed the way people thought about the rights of others. War crashed the economy and financial systems and destroyed the great land and culture that Liberia once had.
When my mom and dad separated, I was sent to live with my aunt, my mom’s sister, and I was still a little girl at that time. I was like 3–4 years old. She was very happy when they sent me to live with her, and since I was still a little girl, I never really understood what was going on because no one bothered to explain to me. However, deep down, I always felt like my parents never wanted me or loved me. It took me some time before I could get used to my aunt. She did everything she could to please me, but there was nothing she could do to make me happy. But then, after two years had passed, I started calling her Mom because she was more than an aunt to me; she was the mother I wished I had.
As a young girl growing up, I was very excited to go to school and make new friends, but it was harder than I thought it was going to be. You see, where I come from, education and health care aren’t available to everyone.
