About the Author
The author graduated in medicine from the Federal University of Pelotas in 1989. She dedicated two years of medical practice as GP. In the next three years, she decided to study Freudian psychoanalysis. Since 1994, she is recognized as a specialist by the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry and Latin American Association of Psychiatry. Her studies on the properties of psychic energy began around 1998. During this period, she developed meditative techniques, using drawings to achieve expanded states of consciousness, through which she gained access to the contents of this book. After acting in her own clinic and having passed the public service, the author withdrew to complete her books. Two books were released in Brazil and this is the first one in English. The book goes beyond psychiatric and psychoanalytic knowledge and contends philosophical and spiritual views of human psychic energy.
Although the author’s writing is based mainly on scientific elements and medical experiences, the writing process included moments of channeling. This is why she asserts that life after death is a postulate of consciousness.

Introduction

Freud
In an article written in 1932 called ‘Dreams and Occultism’, Freud commences an observation of the so-called extra-sensorial phenomenon in the light of psychoanalysis: he said he was open to examine whatever evidence related to the then-called occultism, and recommends a more tolerant approach to his disciples and students present at the conference, in relation to the theme.
He says, “The actual history of science offers plenty of examples warning against premature condemnation… Amongst these presumptions, without a doubt, the most probable is the one stating that there exists a real foundation for the facts of occultism, which hasn’t been recognized until now because of the hoax and fantasies weaving a veil difficult to undo…”
“In my opinion, he who thinks it isn’t possible to assimilate and use all the revelations and assertions of the occultists, underestimates science.”
One of the biggest challenges of psychoanalysis in the 21st century is to establish a new paradigm in which the body and ‘spirituality’, or the phenomenon and abilities of mental energy, are analyzed and worked with towards a cure and personal progress of the patients.
Modern man, who more and more got a grip on the ‘material’ side of life, now needs to re-discover his ‘soul’. But, momentarily, still lost in his frenetic battle to dominate the ‘outside’ world…

Comments on the Consciousness
In recent years, numerous scientists have dedicated themselves to constructing theories regarding the nature of consciousness. Without a doubt, this is a difficult subject. The advent of quantum physics brought with it the hope of finding a connection between the laws and phenomena of the subatomic universe and the dynamics of the conscious mind.
Various models have been proposed. In the meantime, these models are more based on (upon) organic structures responsible for the conscious, and on, mathematical models. The fundamental question is that ‘the conscious’ is a subjective phenomenon.
Understanding the conscience and its possibilities depends on the capacity of the sensations, not exactly reasoning. Know the consciousness required to experience levels and phenomena of the conscious to reach its nature, and this evidently cannot be learned in universities.
The organic neuronal system is, without a doubt, fantastic and its investigation is instigating, but the ultimate reason for the existence of the conscience is the possibility of sensation. It’s sensation, which generates psychic energy and sustains the conscience.
The organic factors generate sensations, but they are not the most significant when we are talking about higher levels of the evolutionary and intelligence scale. In intelligent beings, these are the subjective sensations which amplify the potential of the system. This becomes visible when one uses the Freudian model for psychic dynamics: sensations generate psychic energy, and above all, the subjective response to the stimuli is capable of generating or consuming energy.
Sensations produce frequencies, variable wavelengths, and quanta potentials; this makes psychic energy very similar in nature to radiant energy. As explained by Albert Einstein about the nature of light, psychic energy also comes in pulses called ‘quanta’. Quanta are units of energy. Our hypothesis is that quanta of psychic energy originate from the sensations and can be compared to what Freud called cathexis: portions of affective energy.
It is an important question: other kind of energy, like electricity, for example, have fixed quanta, light, and psychic energy have variable quanta potentials. Also, these two types of energy are similar in their capacity to influence other energy’s forms and reach all energetic levels of universal consciousness. Quanta of psychic energy are, more or less, potent according to the sensation they originate from.
The Psychic Energy
Now, we are trying to build an evaluation of the human mind as an energetic phenomenon. Using the elements of physics, psychoanalysis, and religious knowledge, it dares to build up some hypothesis about the mind, and its possibilities, adding the empiric knowledge with intuition. The ancestral knowledge has been put aside for much time, so this piece of work, as many of enormous success nowadays, rescues this search, and has proved that there is less opposition than coincidences among the point of views of these different sources of human knowledge. The walls fall apart, and science approaches the understanding of the spiritual universe, as well as, the process of human evolution. Rationality, at last, leads us to understand the subjective dimension as a determinant phenomenon of the mysterious special energy, which constitutes an intelligent mind. We can to try answer the worries of the modern man in the search for a new path between blind faith and rational materialism, a decisive contribution for the third millennium mind.
The theme of the text corresponds to the present moment of interior search and re-evaluation of values in the civilized world. If dogmatic faith does not work anymore, the absolute rationality and materialism do not answer all the questions. The contemporary man looks for a new and clear way, with the opportunity to understand the energetic dynamics of his psyche and the way it builds up his destiny. At the same time, we need to think about the possible influences between one mind and another one, and how the time-space line is over passed by psychic phenomena. Regression, mediunity telepathy, and intuition are mental acts, which should be analyzed under the scope of the nature of psychic energy. And we desire to know laws which regulate these phenomena.
The rediscovering of the unconscious, this potential dimension, which constitutes us, has led to a revolution in behavior and in the mental content of the species. Symptoms of unbalance, as well as enormous potentialities, emerge. It is necessary to understand this issue, quite well, to know ourselves and the moment we live in, so it becomes an opportunity for improvement.
Unveiling the Mind
We are living in a period of transition in which the human mind is uneasy. Altogether with wide possibilities, man struggles in great conflicts. We have come to a point in which depression has been considered the illness of the XXI century, by the World Health Organization.
Depression and its correlated diseases are clearly energetic malfunctioning of psyche. Understanding the new times requires the knowledge of the psychic energy as a phenomenon and of the unconscious. This portion of mind has some power which men have always been afraid of facing, and this power is emerging nowadays, individually, as well as, publicly.
