Introduction

In Transformational Corporate Leadership, Barine and Minja have written a must read book on transformational leadership. They cover the subject in a reader-friendly manner making reading the book an enjoyable odyssey. This is a book I recommend for the student of leadership, for those simply curious about transformational leadership, for political leaders looking to transform their countries and for the corporate business leader alike. All will find the principles in the book, relevant. Enjoy.

Prof. Michael Dynamite Benson Munkumba ,
Chief Consultant and Deputy Director, Business School, ESAMI, Tanzania.

It’s trivial to say that leadership is no trivial topic. And getting lost in complexity without a helpful structure for the practitioner is the fate of many publications. It is good to see that the two authors found a way to put a bright new light on the age-old topic of leadership. I am personally honored that they made use of the Integrated System Concept of the Organization (ISCO) to structure the text. The model has been originally developed in a creative interplay between theory and practice. It graciously survived more than one leadership challenge especially in the storms of corporate change. I wish the reader good insights and bountiful returns on her/his investment of studying these pages.

“Transformational Corporate Leadership is an excellent treatise on today’s complex global organizational operating environments. The book is clearly written with many examples of integrated strategy and techniques provided by Barine and Minja to develop and apply best practices for corporate strategic leadership and governance.”

Visiting Assistant Professor of Business,

Good books are most often written by authors who have first-hand experience in the area about which they are writing and the ability to communicate their concepts in a transformative way which has been honed through teaching others. Professors Barine Kirimi and David Minja have highlighted what is required to make modern corporate culture successful through transformational leadership that focuses on the things that make corporations successful, an engaged workforce that is cared for by corporate leaders and motivated to achieve a worthy corporate vision for making a difference in not only the business world, but society at large. This is the much needed cutting edge thinking for success in today’s business world.

Author of Effective Team Leadership: Learning to Lead Through Relationships.

The art of effective corporate leadership is the result of a dynamic synergy between the leader and the context where that leadership is expressed; the people, resources, structures, culture, policies and governance of the total system. Understanding the interface between the leader’s attributes and skills, and the complex system of any organization is vital for successful influence. The essence of leadership is transformation. The scope for change needs to be considered holistically for meaningful and progressive change to be achieved. This book sets out to help leaders understand their unique role in a broad and dynamic system we call the organization.
