Preface  The Palestinian people have been living under the Israeli occupation for decades. The world community, the UN and the Arab states have promised to finish their suffer tens of times since then. Yet they have felt the rapid deterioration of their life, human rights and even the resources of their minimum living level.  A political settlement that doesn’t achieve a significant positive change to the economic and human conditions of the Palestinian people can’t be deemed as an important stage in building a political social stability in the region. The change should push forward the process of economic and social development to guarantee the establishment of a promising and advanced future for the next generations.  These studies cover the period of 1998-2002. It tries to bring up the changes and deterioration that resulted from the Israeli aggression and the collective punishment policies against the Palestinian civilian people. It proved that the peace process didn’t bring stability or security to the Palestinians as shown by evidence through the five chapters of the book. Specialists revised these studies including Dr. Osama Dabbagh (economics professor at the University of Jordan), Dr. Bashir Zubi (economics professor at the University of Jordan), Dr. Adnan Jaljouli (former health

minister) and Dr. Ismael Abdlrahman (economics professor at the University of Jordan). I appreciate all their contribution and resources. I also here thank “The center for freedom protection” headed by Mr. Ali Abu Hilal and “Najah Press Office” headed by Dr. Farid Abu Dhair, Who followed up some researchers in the west bank. We realize that these studies form only a part of necessary fields of interest on the conditions of the Palestinian people in the WB and GS. Finally I invite all the researchers who are concerned to present their recent studies on this field to my desk and to put forward their suggestions and amendments that can develop these studies for next editions.
