FOREWORD
I was delighted to learn that Chris Cowlin was compiling this quiz book which, in an age when our fascination with reality TV continues to grow, is long over due and highly topical. Having spent more winters than I care to remember on stage appearing in panto, it was wonderful to be given an opportunity to hang up my Dame costume for a season in 2007 to take part in the huge success that has been ITV1’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here. It was an extraordinary experience and I loved every minute of it and it was a great honour to triumph over such worthy competitors as supermodel Janice Dickinson and popstar Jason ‘J’ Brown to be crowned King of the Jungle. My first taste of reality television gave me the appetite for more and I went on to appear in, amongst others, Channel 4’s Celebrity Come Dine With Me. It proved to be an exhausting few days but good fun and the food was certainly a lot better than it was in the jungle! Reality TV makes compelling entertainment, it has given us some great characters and produced many memorable viewing moments and I am proud to be able to say that I have been a part of it. The Reality Television Quiz Book includes all of the classic shows the genre has produced, from the early programmes through to the current day (I didn’t know that there were so many still to appear on!) and is testament to the growing numbers of us insane enough to live out a part of our lives on TV for the amusement of others. Oh, the things we’re
v
prepared to do for fame and fortune! Chris Cowlin is to be congratulated on putting together an entertaining and informative book which is sure to appeal to anyone who can’t resist watching reality TV – I guarantee that you won’t be able to put it down!

INTRODUCTION
I would first of all like to thank Christopher Biggins for writing the foreword to this book. I have been a great fan of Biggins for many years. I would also like to thank all the newspapers, magazines and famous names who have backed this book and provided a few comments (these can be found at the back of the book). I have compiled over 40 books and I must say this has been a real pleasure to put together. There is something in this book for everyone, regardless of age, and if you have enjoyed watching programmes such as Big Brother, Blind Date, The Apprentice or The X Factor. I decided to compile this book as reality television really has taken over our TV screens in the last ten years, and it seems people cannot get enough of it. This is the first ever quiz book compiled based on reality television so I hope you enjoy reading through the pages and testing your knowledge of some entertaining television and fame hungry contestants. In closing, I would like to thank all my friends and family, especially my wife Julia, for encouraging me to complete this book.
Best wishes ChrisCowlin
