Introduction
Blackjack is one of the casino world’s favourite games. Whilst the odds are - of course - still in favour of the house, many believe that Blackjack (also known as Pontoon and 21 amongst other names) is the punter’s best chance of walking away with something to show for it. Whilst the house will still always win ‘in the big picture’ as it were, the percentages in their favour are much thinner than in other games.
This guide aims to provide you with some tips to improve your game, beat the house and walk away with a tidy profit.
We will assume - for the purposes of this guide - that you know the basics of the game. You know that you have to get as close to 21 without going over. If you didn’t know this, perhaps spend a bit of time watching others play the game, and come back to this guide when you’re comfortable with it. The basic play needs to be second nature to you, otherwise you’re going to be worried about that rather than focusing on actually winning.
This guide is written for an international audience, so please don’t be surprised if you see gambling called gaming, or currency mentioned in dollars or pounds - this author wants to include everyone in the fun!
