About the Author
The author was born in Blackburn, England. He is 81 years old.
At the tender age of 13, in 1950, he suffered his greatest and first tragedy when he lost his sight. His sight was restored three months later, but his eye specialist only managed to save five per cent of his eyesight and he’s lived with that five per cent all his life. But that has never stopped him from doing what he loves or wanted to achieve.
At an early age, after leaving school, he started working as an apprentice painter and decorator, and during those early years, he was also very successful in ballroom dancing. He stayed in that trade as a painter after ending his apprenticeship in 1958. In 1960, he married his dancing partner, who was also his childhood sweetheart, whom he started dancing with when they were only juveniles.
In 1964, they emigrated to Perth, Western Australia and started their own painting contracting business, in 1990, the author and his wife built a large ballroom and dance studio, but in 1998, the author suffered his second and greater tragedy than his first. One Sunday night, after their dance had finished, they had a robbery. The author was beaten up and put in hospital, but his wife had a heart attack and died from a complication of the robbery.
Although in shock, he kept his businesses going with the help of his managers and, later, Marilyn, a female dancer who became his friend. He married Marilyn in 2007.
Paul still dances three times a week, as music and dancing have always been parts of his life. His other interests are in cruising around the world or Asia, as his wife, Marilyn, is Chinese and originally from Singapore.

A Note from the Author

Dear readers,
Whether you’re married, living together or really just good friends, always remember that being together is a great gift. But from time to time, things may not work out as you planned, that’s when you should try to remember these beautiful words from a song that I wrote and it is called ‘No Other Heart’.
No other heart could win my love.
Now that it’s known, the passion in your kiss.
No other heart feels the sweet fulfilment
That I find with you, every day, all the time.
No other kiss could thrill me more
For I have felt, the softness of your lips
Oh, you must know.
I was born, with love, to give you
Till the world, flames out, around you.
Till the moon, deserts the skies above
No other heart let no other love
Know the pleasure of
Your kiss.
Prelude

This Novel Tells the Story of Ben Masterson
The year is 1845, the place is Tumbleweed, Southern Arizona.
In these early lawless years, Arizona belonged to anyone who could claim it – the Spanish dignitaries who first settled into Arizona were slowly and methodically being murdered or swept back into Mexico; the predators who plundered and robbed the defenceless people of all their wealth, their gangs of outlaws and thugs, who committed crimes of unthinkable cruelty.
Law and order were non-existent, and justice was on the side of the gun. For the raiders and aggressors, the prize was land and gold.
But for the invaded, the penalty was often death. There were some people like Ben Masterson who lost everything, including their liberty and the way of life. So Ben Masterson started to fight back.
So this novel tells the story of Ben Masterson, and of all the bad things that happened to him. First, he is caught up in a bank robbery and later some murders. This all happens in a small town named Tumbleweed in southern Arizona.
Ben is arrested and caught for the robbery and the murders and later found guilty of these unthinkable crimes. He is sent to Yuma Territorial Prison in southern Arizona, and while in prison bad things happen to him.
Sometime later, thanks to a young lady, who now is living in Boston Massachusetts, works hard on Bens behalf and thanks to her Ben is granted a pardon and sometimes later, he intends returning to Tumbleweed to clear his name.
But before he can do this, Ben gets involved with the Arizona Rangers and from there, Ben’s life changes forever.
And down here in the southwest of Arizona, in those early years; the difference between life, death or glory was often just the fraction of a second. This was the speed that made champions like Wyatt Earp and his friend Doc Holliday and the outlaw Billy the Kid, famous.
But the fastest man with a handgun, who lived here in the southwest of Arizona was a tall lean Arizona man named BEN MASTERSON. For at all times, Ben was two seconds faster with both guns, left or right handed, then anyone else.
This is his story, and as an Arizona Ranger, he became a…

Chapter One

The Robbery
The mist that covered the horizon started to disappear, as the sun made its appearance and rose quickly over the foothill. At that moment, the layer of dust that covered the ground was disturbed by a strong breeze, while a bright full moon, hung around for a little while longer, before it started to slowly sink far way, behind the distant ranges.
This day began like thousands of any other hot Arizona days. Well, that was until the big cloud came; it appeared far away on the arisen, showing the shadow of dusty images moving at great speed, and this was followed by a thundering noise from the pounding of many hooves on the baked hard ground.
As the sound got louder and the dust cloud got thicker, you could now see through the swirling cloud of dust, the shape of horses, the sound they were making sounded like hundreds of horses. A shiver ran down your spine as you tried to make out who they were. But as they came closer, the shape of only three riders appeared – riders like the wind; their faces covered with their colourful neckties, and their guns tied down on both hips.
They rode their horse hard; they were riding with a purpose, and as they approached the town of Tumbleweed they rained back on their horses, as the dust swirling around them and before it settled, you could only see their eyes. Red and evil as the devil.
The town citizens instantly withdrew into the shadows of the boardwalks, while m
