THE HISTORY FILE

NEW WORDS
TO THE READER

Dear Mum, I Miss You is a story set in Britain during the early years of the Second World War. Grace Williams and the other characters in the book are made up, but the setting is real. The retreat of the British army from Dunkirk in 1940, for example, actually happened. So the story is not just exciting; it will also tell you what life was like during an extraordinary period in our history.
