PREFACE
Few experiences in life are as profound as the feelings we have about our families. The roots of some of these feelings are lost in the dark corners of the preverbal experience. The branches go in all directions, some holding glorious, frizzy moments, while others are broken, leaving the sharp and jagged edges that we caught ourselves on. Family is not a simple subject. Culturally and psychologically, our feelings about our families are often inconsistent and tangled.
And this family is the cornerstone of our lives. It is the cement, the foundation that carries us through our growth. It helps us to build our character and personal balance.
Unlike the friends we get to know, we do not choose the members who make up our family, but despite everything, they are essential to our development, and of course the parents in the first place.
A family brings so many things, such as support, love, care, support, education, attention. This is what allows us not to feel alone when we are going through difficult trials or even when we want to share happy events!
The family contributes to the construction of the child’sidentity and personality. The family remains the essential cell of social life. The individual also learns his duties and his rights, the best bulwark against delinquency.
In this book, the story is told through the life of a single-parent family. When we talk about single-parent families, I am referring to single parents raising their children. Most often, they are mothers. But in our history, it is a father. In these single-parent families, parents must manage their work activities but also their responsibilities at home. This can be a double burden.
That is not an easy task and there is a great risk of the parent shutting himself or herself off. The latter becomes his confidant; a responsibility he cannot assume. We often see the mother who overprotects her child in order to fill the absence of father, and lives only for him without giving herself, moments. But you will realize over the lines that a father is just as capable of this level of sacrifice. Yes it is possible! Although I must admit that this challenge comes with its load of differences.
