About the Author
Maryam Al Mansoori is an Emirati student from Ras Al-Khaimah studying at New York University Abu Dhabi. She spends most of her time contemplating about her life issues and goals. She is scared of cats but finds them cute. She loves sleeping, dark chocolate and walking. She is a supportive friend, a loving sister, a caring daughter and an independent woman.

Poet’s Manifesto
When I was an insecure child, hearing: Maryam, Alreem, Sheikhat Al-hareem from my Aunts always made me feel powerful. The phrase means Maryam, the gazelle, the queen of women. I chose Alreem as my poet name because it makes me feel empowered. Hence, it gives me the ability to make my readers feel the same way.
