He stared at his collection, their faces looking up at him from the duvet. They were in a specific order, not by size or price, but arraigned by favorite. Most of the ones his family had given him over the years were high up on the price scale but were nowhere near the favorite which was around his wrist.
A vibration in the pocket of his jeans interrupted his thoughts. He fished the cell phone out, took a glance and then set it down next to the array of watches. The text was still lit up, “Mike, I will be at the gate in ½ hour. Best of Luck. Stay STRONG! Love.”
Michael Lillard stared into the mirror as he ran his fingers around the worn brown leather band until he felt the cold hardness of the steel and glass.
