When you’re a teen, it can seem like everything around you is in a constant state of flux. That’s true for everyone, but the scope of the teenage experience is vast. It looks different for each person, and it can change on a daily basis. The changes may be overwhelming, but where there’s confusion and chaos, there is also the opportunity for creativity. In these pages, you’ll find a variety of scenes, emotions and observations of teenage life – some abstract, some realistic, some somewhere in between.
The artists who collaborated to make this book were selected for their originality and for their abilities to revel in confusion and turn it into art. Provided with one- or two-word prompts, these artists used their creativity to come up with one-of-a-kind works of art.
Christina Mrozik crafts elegant, haunting scenes that feature realistic human characters. Rubens Scarelli’s art is full of energy and sass and seems to jump off the page. Shanghee Shin illustrates beautiful, abstract scenes that depict the complexity of emotions such as curiosity and sadness. Stephanie Corfee designs fun, flirty, intricate doodle patterns. Augusto Costhanzo’s art tackles serious subjects with equal parts wit and truth. Jack Kasprzak shows a great range, often incorporating geometric details within larger thematic designs. Courtney Autumn Martin designs abstract landscapes out of elaborate circular patterns. Katie Abey shares adorable, cartoonish animals in a lighthearted style. David Sossella’s art is full of texture, with finessed lines and clever details. Blending abstract and realistic elements, Phil Wheeler provides thought-provoking pieces of art.
With everything from fairy-tale inspired designs to bold graffiti, this book is sure to offer inspiration, relaxation and fun. Rejoice in the confusion, and add some colour to your life!
