Biography
C astro commanded the Cuban Revolution after overthrowing Cuba’s then President Batista in 1959. He proceeded to take control over Cuba and installed a communist Marxist government. He became the supreme ruler over Cuba starting in 1959 and remained until 2008, when he became sick.
Where was Fidel Raised?
C astro was born August 13, 1926 on his father’s farm located in Cuba. Angel Castro, his father, would not officially claim him to be his son since Fidel was born out of wedlock. He went by the name of Fidel Ruz while he was growing up. His father later married his mother and Fidel then changed his name to Fidel Castro.

H e attended Jesuit boarding schools and was smart, but not a great student. However, he did excel in sports, especially in baseball.

H e entered law school in 1945 at the University of Havana. While attending school he became involved with politics, including protesting against their current government. He believed the government to be corrupt and felt there was excessive involvement from the United States.
