Madame secretary
By a lake in Yangon, Burma (Myanmar), in December 2011, Hillary Clinton finally met one of her heroes. Aung San Suu Kyi had fought for decades to bring democracy to Burma. Clinton strongly supported her efforts.
The military rulers of Burma opposed Suu Kyi and sent her to jail several times for promoting democracy. These jailings created tension between Burma and the United States. But by 2011 Aung San Suu Kyi won Suu Kyi was free, and Clinton was a Nobel Peace Prize hoping to improve ties between the for her political work United States and Burma.in Burma, which is called Myanmar by its government.
