In this book, we’re going to talk about fun questions and answers about Earth and the other seven planets in our Solar System. So, let’s get right to it!
Except for Earth, all the planets have been named after the gods and goddesses of Roman mythology. Pluto was once considered a planet, but it’s now described as a dwarf planet.
Question: How cold does the surface of Mercury get?
Answer: Because Mercury doesn’t have an atmosphere, the side that’s turned away from the Sun gets very cold. Its surface temperature can go down to -328 degrees Fahrenheit.
MERCURY
Question: What is the hottest temperature on the planet Mercury?
Answer: The side of Mercury that’s facing the Sun can get heated to 750 degrees Fahrenheit.
Question: How many days does it take for the planet Mercury to orbit the Sun?
Answer: It takes 88 days for the planet Mercury to orbit the Sun. Even though it takes less time to travel around the Sun than Earth and the other planets, its rotation takes longer than Earth’s. It takes about 59 Earth days to rotate once on its axis.
