Reading the book 1. Discuss the titleLittle Sam. Ask:What do you think this book might be about? 2. Discuss the cover illustration. Ask:What is Little Sam doing? Do you think he will get into trouble?Look through the book and talk about the pictures before you start reading. 3. Read the first two pages to the child, pointing at the words as you read. 4. Ask the child to read the words on the following pages. If they get stuck, wait for a few seconds to see if they can work it out. If they find it a problem, tell them the sound the first letter makes. Finally give them the word and ask them to read the whole sentence again. Praise the child! 5. As the child reads the book, encourage them to point to each word with their finger and practise reading from left to right.
