PREFACE
This workbook provides the student with an opportunity to do a wide variety of exercises covering five language sub-skills: grammar, spelling, punctuation, controlled writing, and free writing. The book consists of fifteen units corresponding to the fifteen weeks of a semester. Each unit contains the five previously-mentioned sub-skills.  The fifteen grammar exercises all through the workbook deal with fifteen different grammar areas. So do the spelling, punctuation, and writing exercises. Each exercise gives room for answers: the student can write on the blank lines that appear in every exercise.  This workbook is a useful supplementary book that can be used with intensive-reading books that lack enough language exercises. In fact, it can be used with or without a reading companion. This workbook is a language-skill workbook.  The grammar exercises of this workbook have been prepared by Dr. Suroor Issa; the spelling and punctuation exercises by Miss Niran Naji; the controlled-writing and free-writing exercises by Dr. Raja Uqba. Dr. Muhammad Ali Alkhuli has coordinated and supervised the whole work.  Gratituted is certainly due to Dr. Kamil Shahristan, Mr. Yousef Ulayyan, and Mr. Rabah Izzat for their valuable help in proofreading the material.  Chairman of English Department  Dr. Muhammad Ali Alkhuli
