A bad dream
It was just another day in the city of
Winkopolis. Zombies moaned. Ghosts wailed.
Skeletons rattled. Everyone was doing the same
old ordinary things. Everyone, mind you, but the
girl who lived at 8 Louise Lane.
That girl was Ellie Ultra. It was the night
before Halloween, and she was getting ready

for bed faster than a witch on a jetpowered
broomstick. It wasextraordinary.
Whoosh!Ellie flew over to her Princess Power
lamp and turned it on. She smiled as the statue of
the comic book princess lit up brightly. Then she
switched off the main light before hopping under
her duvet.
“Lights out, my super girl,” Mum said, popping
into Ellie’s room. “Dogooders need a good night’s
sleep.” She walked over to the Princess Power
lamp and reached to turn it off.
Ellie sat up straight. “Don’t turn off my
Princess Power light! It saves me from the dark.”
“The dark?” Mum folded her arms and
frowned. “Since when do you need rescuing from
that?”
“Since yesterday,” Ellie admitted. “I had a
really bad dream. I think my comic book
