General - Part 1 The five members of One Direction are Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik. It would cost over £20,000 To hire One Direction out for one night - but it would probably be worth it! When the boys announced their debut UK tour, it sold out within 12 minutes of the tickets going live! What Makes You Beautiful was the third fastest-selling UK single of 2011. Harry and Niall both helped Ed Sheeran write Moments Louis, Harry and Liam all like to sleep naked! The members of the band once played a prank on Harry by telling him Zayn was leaving. Harry Actually cried. After the 2012 Brit awards, the boys all went to McDonalds. Harry and Louis have promised to be each other’s best man. All the boys have promised each other that in 35 years time, whatever they are doing, they’ll have a reunion concert. I wonder what they will be doing?!
Harry - Part 1 Harry’s full name is Harry Edward Styles.. His birthday is on the 1 st February. Harry’s older sister is called Gemma. He is the youngest member of the group. His favourite type of film is action and adventure. Harry’s hair was actually straight when he was younger. Harry can’t stand mayonnaise! When he was 11, Harry had his first kiss. Were you the lucky girl? It was Harry’s idea to call the group One Direction Harry can speak French pretty well.
Louis - Part 1 Louis’s birthday is on the 24 th December - Christmas Eve. Do you think he gets two lots of presents? His middle name is William. Louis thinks that he has a girly bum. Louis had a crush on Diana Vickers. On Youtube, Louis uploaded a cover of because of you when he was 17 - and before he was in One Direction. It’s still on there… The Fray is Louis’s favourite band. He has a man-crush on Robbie Williams. Louis’s favourite restaurant is Pizza Hut. Classy! Louis is the older than the other boys in the band. His favourite film is Grease . Aaaahh!
General - Part 2 The boys’ first single, What Makes You Beautiful was released on the 11 th September 2011. It made number one in the UK the very next week. The group finished third on X-Factor’s seventh series in the UK. Each of the boys actually entered X-Factor individually, but failed to qualify - until someone came up with the genius idea of combining them into a fantastic group! The boys say their biggest musical inspiration are Take That . The album Up All Night was the 16 th biggest selling in the UK of 2011. Their second single, Gotta Be You was first released on the 13 th November 2011, and made number three in the UK charts. The deal that One Direction signed with Syco Music was worth £2 million! Harry reckons that Louis looks like Frankie from the Saturdays. Weird! Up All Night was the fastest selling debut album of 2011 in the UK. Liam actually first entered the X-Factor in 2008 and actually made it through to the judges’ houses stage.
Zayn Zayn’s real name is Zayn Javadd Malik. His birthday is on the 12 th January. When Zayn had his first kiss, the girl was so tall he had to stand on a brick. He was 17. Zayn didn’t actually have a passport before he was in One Direction! Zayn loves shopping in Topman. Zayn has three older sisters and one younger one. Their names are Waliyah, Doniya and Saffa. Zayn’s dream holiday destination is Italy. Zayn used to eat paper when he was younger… odd child…! Zayn hates dancing and can’t swim. Zayn really likes long hair on a girl.
Liam Liam’s middle name is James. He was born on the 29 th August. Which makes him a Virgo! Liam’s likes to use Herbal Essences Shampoo. Liam has boxer shorts with the days of the week written on them. Liam is scared of spoons - he doesn’t like putting them in his mouth! When Liam was 4, he sleep-walked into the kitched and peed on the floor. Liam has 2 older sisters, called Ruth and Nicola. He really hated Maths at school. Liam’s favourite sport is boxing. I wouldn’t want to get into a fight with him…
Niall Niall’s birthday is on the 13 th September. The only book he has ever read is ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. Strange choice… Niall’s favourite Pokemon is Snivy. He was afraid of clowns when he was little. When Niall was 5, he sat in his uncle’s wedding cake! Niall’s first tweet was to Justin Bieber, who he idolises. He says his favourite passtime is farting. Charming! Niall’s favourite colour is blue. Niall plans to propose to his special girl on Valentine’s day - when he has found a special girl… Niall’s favourite scary movie is Prom Night.
General - Part 3 One Direction starred in a series of TV ads and events for Pokemon Black and White. The boys helped with the launch of the limited edition Nokia C2-02 and Nokia C3-00 phones. What Makes You Beautiful sold faster in the US than the Beatles’ first single! After the 2012 Brits party, the boys were drunk and walked along singing Torn . The boys’ first book, which was called One Direction: Forever Young actually hit number one in the world-famous New York Times Bestsellers list. They have actually now released three books (not including this one!). According to Amazon, the group’s 2012 calendar is the highest selling calender of all time! 500,000 tickets were sold in just two hours when sales went live for the 2013 arena tour. This works out to 69 tickets being sold every second. Niall is the only band member who wasn’t born in the UK - he was actually born in Ireland. Both Liam and Zayn were big Pokemon fans as children, however Harry had never played - until he was introduced to it by the others. He now lovea it!
Harry - Part 2 Harry cried at the wedding scene in the film Love Actually. Harry reckons he is a perfume expert, and claims he can name any girl’s perfume by just smelling it. He loves cats. Juggling is one of Harry’s hidden talents. Harry enjoys pranks that involve nudity. Exciting! His star sign is Aquarius. Harry used to be in a band called ‘White Eskimo’. Who played at a wedding back in June 2010. Harry is scared of snakes. The oldest aged woman Harry says he would date is 43 - that’s how old his mum is!
Louis - Part 2 Louis has five sisters - Lottie, Georgia, Felicity, Phoebe and Daisy. Felicity is known as Fizzy, and Phoebe and Daisy are twins. Louis doesn’t like tattoos. A Girl once dumped Louis for not being attractive enough. Crazy! Louis was once suspended from school - and had to retake year 12. Naughty boy. Louis owns a pair of boxer shorts with the words ‘Lubbly Jubbly’ written on them. His hometown is Doncaster in Yorkshire. Louis once had a chilli flavoured ice cream in France. He said it tasted amazing! Louis likes girls who likes carrots. (WHAT???!) Louis has said that if he were a girl for a day, he’d go straight to the mirror and take his clothes off…
And Finally… The boys saw each other naked pretty much the first time they worked together. You won’t be surprised to hear that Harry stripped down first…

General - Part 1 Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger suggested the boys should get together as a band. Sony have never sold as many pre-orders as they did for the boys’ debut single What Makes You Beautiful . One Direction didn’t actually win X Factor - they finished behind Matt Cardle and Rebecca Ferguson. Up All Night’ got into the top ten in the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Holland, Belgium, Sweden and Argentina. Up
