TUTORIAL ON THE OCLC WORLDCAT CATALOG This tutorial cover the OCLC WorldCat catalog. WorldCat allows users to search the contents of over 1 billion items in more than 10,000 libraries worldwide. Then click on the "WorldCat" link on the left side of the page. This takes you to the WorldCat search page. This is the WorldCat search page. To search WorldCat, enter your search terms into the search window then click on the "Search" button. WorldCat then retrieves records containing your search terms. If WorldCat located records containing your search terms, it first displays search results pages listing brief entries for these titles. Use the "First," "Prev," and "Next" links plus the search results page number to browse the results. To display the full record for an item, click on its title. The full record first lists complete publication information for the title. Check the WVUP MountainLynx catalog to see if it available as a print or electronic book. You may also check the Wood County Public Library. If the title is not available at WVUP, scan down the screen to see where the item may be found. Items listed in WorldCat may be obtained through interlibrary loan. Materials located in other libraries may be obtained through interlibrary loan. There are two ways to submit an interlibrary loan request. The first is to print off the long record (example appears above) and drop it off at the library with your name, telephone number, or email address.
