A BRILLIANT CAREER
Full name: ALONTSI DONGMO Eugene
Eugene DONGMO A. is originated from western highlands of Cameroon. Well-grounded in the field of Spatial
Information, he has a brilliant school career and a rich professional career.
Born in the second part of the XIV Century, Eugene DONGMO made a brilliant school career from primary to higher education. In the year 2000, he began his secondary school and ended in the year 2009 with aBaccalaureate Certificate in Literature and Philosophy. He later enrolled into the University of Dschang in the Faculty of Arts, specializing in Physical Geography. In 2012, after carrying out research on Geography and Mapping, he graduated with aProfessional Bachelor's Degree in Mapping, Topography, Remote Sensing and GIS. A few years later, in
2016, he obtained aProfessional Master degree in Mapping, GIS and Remote Sensing. In his professional life, Eugene DONGMO is very solicited. While pursuing his Professional master’s studies, he taughtGeography and Historyat the Government Secondary High School of Bangang (Bamboutos Division, West
Cameroon) as a part time teacher. At the same time, he participated in several projects related to spatial information.
In particular, he was involved in themapping of infrastructures in the town of Doualain 2012. Subsequently, he was a Cartographer and GIS specialist Assistant in the project of Water Needs AssessmentusingGIS tools in Upper-Nkam (West Cameroon) and thentrained 12 Council agents in the manipulation of GPS for the collection of geographic datain 2014. He served as a Cartographer and GIS Expert in the project for theAssessment of the tourism potentials of the Western Region in four pilot municipalities in 2015. The same year he converted
water distribution network plan of the town of Dschang(West Cameroon)from the hard and old copy to the digital and updated copy. By actively working in the Project ofHousing Code Development in Cameroon in 2016, he used very high-resolution satellite images to come out with the state of habitat settlement in 08 pilot sites. In
the same year, he was a member of the project team working on the project for elaboration of theManagement and Sustainable Development Plan for the Eastern Region of Cameroon where he served as a GIS Specialist assistant. He also actively participated in the workshop on theEstablishment of a unique methodology for
participatory mapping in Cameroon.
Eugene DONGMO has held several positions in several institutions. In 2015, he held the position of GIS Technician at the NGO APIFED (South Cameroon) with the responsibility to conduct aparticipatory mapping in two communities of the Meyomessi SubdivisionRegion of Cameroon). In the first half of the year 2016, he (South
occupied the position ofGIS consultant at FODER(Yaoundé), whose responsibility was to finalize theparticipatory
mappingwithin the framework of theMapping and Forest Governanceproject. In the same year, he also occupied the position ofSupport Staff in charge ofdrawing up water and electricity supply plans at the Divisional Delegation of the Ministry of Water and Energy of Menoua (West Cameroon). In the second half of year 2016, he
was recruited at ERuDeF (Buea) as aGIS Officer. After serving in this position for four months, he was appointed as
Head of the Geomatics Centrein the same organization. Today, he holds the positions ofHead of the Geomatics
Centre and Monitoring and Evaluation Managerat ERuDeF.
