High-quality Bathroom Cabinet Materials Choosing the materials for yourshower bathcabinets is one of the most significant choices you’ll need to make in any bathroom remodelling project. Cabinets are typically considered to impact a restoration project more than any other single factor, and the choice of material is important for any cabinet. Here are some popular cabinet materials. Particle Board This is an affordable and lightweight material made from wood particles and chips that are fused together with an adhesive. Particle board makes up a significant percentage of the material used in today's cabinetry. It is used both for the panels on the sides of the cabinet and for shelves, though it isn’t very strong. It doesn’t hold up well in moist conditions; so unless it’s protected, it should only be used in areas that keep dry, like linen cabinets. Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) This is another engineered-wood material, made from wood fibres that are incorporated with a strong glue under pressure to form boards or panels. MDF has a finer texture than particle board and is stronger, denser and heavier. It's used in cabinet doors, shelves and cabinet boxes. Like particle board, it's susceptible to damage from water. If you treat it thoroughly with waterproofing, it can withstand some dampness, but it’s best to use it in somewhat dry applications. It emits urea-formaldehyde and other volatile organic compounds that, in sufficient amounts, can pose a health threat. Plywood Plywood is built of skinny wood plies (sheets) that are glued together. The grains of the plies ordinarily run in differing directions, providing the plywood additional strength, stability and rigidity. Plywood has superb lateral strength, so it can strengthen the sides ofBath England cabinets. But shelves made of plywood have limited strength when asked to span distances with weight on it.

Plywood is used for the doors, sides and shelves of cabinets. Untreated plywood can de-laminate over time if used in moist conditions. Stainless Steel Because of aesthetics and the high cost, stainless steel is infrequently used in cabinetry. Almost indestructible, it can be used for an entire cabinet, though some manufacturers use it for doors on wood cabinets. Plastic Laminate This is virtually the same material utilized on laminate countertops, although it is usually skinnier for cabinets. It is created by fusing paper and plastic resin together under heat and pressure. Laminate is utilized for covering and protecting cabinets, providing a waterproof, easily-cleaned surface. Melamine This is another plastic-based product that's used to cover and protect cabinet surfaces. It is a common material for putting over particle board, and is very lasting. One common type of construction involves bathroom mirrors cabinetmade with melamine and wood veneer sandwiched over particle boxes board. The melamine is put on the inside part of the cabinet and the wood veneer is put on the exterior. This is a thin vinyl film that's used for covering and protecting cabinet boxes, doors and drawer fronts. The vinyl usually starts as a rigid film that's then heated and formed over the substrate material, which is ordinarily one of the engineered-wood products. Wood Wood is a sought after choice for cabinets because it is lasting, strong and aesthetically pleasing. But it's heavy and rather costly. It will eventually rot under wet conditions, but it is less susceptible to water damage than the engineered-wood products because it doesn’t contain glue. It can be treated with various types of waterproof finishes.
