NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MDSummer Institute on Atmospheric, Hydrospheric, and Terrestrial Sciences for 2003 June 2003–August 2003 Assisted scientists in the Cold Land Processes Experiment. Programmed in GrADS to characterize and analyze temporal and spatial variability of the field data.
Science Systems and Applications, Inc. (SSAI), Greenbelt MD Field Technician July 2003-August 2003 Participated in NASAs cold land processes field experiment. Maintained instruments which took ground based measurements of snow depths and other meteorological variables in Fraser, CO. Assembled and disbanded towers, recorded measurements, and corrected malfunctions. The Climate Office - The Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA Work Study Position August 2003-May 2004
Assisted with data entry of the state's climatological network, compiled data sets, performed elementary research on web, and developed graphical presentations of the data. Engaged in lectures, modeling laboratory classes and project work involving coupled climate models. Advanced training in how to run a full GCM model, and understanding their theoretical and practical underpinnings to be able to improve them for emerging scientific tasks.Used NCARs coupled model to study the sensitivity of the Indian Monsoon to variations in convection. Alteredthe convection scheme in the model to attempt to better model results. Comparison of model output to observational and assimilated data in the monsoon region.
