Academic success continues
Once again College pupils achieved outstanding results in their public examinations.With competition for university places at an all-time high, Upper Sixth pupils excelled in their A levels and achieved the second best ever results in the College’s history, just short of the record set last year. Yawen Yin was the top performer with 4A*s and 1A while five other pupils gained 3A*s or better. Of all the grades awarded at A level, 18% were A* and 83% were A*–B; all 13 pupils who received offers from Oxford and Cambridge achieved their conditional offers. Almost a third of candidates achieved at least one A* grade and a similar number left with three A grades or better. Of the Year 11 pupils who took GCSEs last summer, over 70 students notched up five or more A*s or As. William Hutchinson was the top performer with 13A*s and 1A grade while Jennie
Hreben, Patrick Davies, Edward Lewis and Henry Miller all gained at least 11 A*s. While maintaining extraordinary levels of success in the arts, sport and other activities, the College continues to be in excellent academic health, enabling pupils of all abilities and talents to excel.

Jimjam walk
Staff and pupils were among the 370 walkers from across the local community who raised over £11,700 for the new St Wilfrid’s Hospice currently under construction. An energetic warm-up on College Field signalled the start of proceedings and hot soup and rolls greeted the walkers in the Dining Room at the end of their 10k hike.
