Regular IR Verbs
The Spanish infinitive, or base form of the verb, is divided into two parts: the stem and the ending.
Many verbs end in
ir
.
The verb
escribir
(to write)
can be divided into the stem and base:
escrib
+
ir
.
In
order to conjugate a verb, you must change the ending in order to make the verb agree with the subject.
To conjugate a regular
ir
verb, drop the
ir
ending and add one of the following:
o, es, e, imos, ís, en
.
Here is the present tense conjugation of
escribir
:
yo escribo
tú escribes
él escribe
ella escribe
usted escribe
nosotros escribimos
nosotras escribimos
vosotros escribís
vosotras escribís
ellos escriben
ellas escriben
ustedes escriben
