Insects enter homes and workplaces through open windows and doorways, usually attracted by bright lights and the smell of food. Contamination of food is well known as one of the most common means of disease transmission. The spread of diseases by flies can be detrimental to a person's health in the form of common illnesses and food poisoning.
The common housefly is a known carrier of typhoid and dysentery. Flies are also thought to transmit campylobacter, the most common cause of diarrhea, by regurgitating and defecating onto food. Equally, if not more, dangerous are mosquitoes which can carry a variety of deadly diseases such as malaria or dengue.
Health and safety legislation is a high priority in all business concerns, especially in the food industry. The use of insect screens can help business to comply with Food Safety Legislation. The installation of insect screens is an efficient and effective way to eliminate insects depositing bacteria on unsealed food, without the harmful use of insecticides. The mesh forms an impenetrable barrier to flying insects while allowing the free passage of fresh air.
Just like in home applications, there are several types of insectscreensthat can be fitted onto any door or window openings of food establishments. There are Roller Window Fly Screens, Roller Door Fly Screens, Insect Panel Door Curtain (Commercial), Sliding Window and Door Screens (Commercial), and Aluminum Hinged Window Screen (Commercial).
Using flyscreens will not only allow you to enjoy the fresh air coming but keep annoying insects out. Understanding the necessity of flyscreens will help reduce the associated risks that insects carry.
