Tips for manual entry of references into
EndNote Web
When you manually enter references in EndNote Web they must be correct or they will affect
your Word citations and bibliography.

Click on the
Collect
tab
2.
Click on
New Reference
3.
The default reference type is
Generic
- click on the drop down box to select the
required reference type e.g.
Journal Article
. The bibliographic fields will change
according to the reference type.
4.
Fill in the top fields (they are mainly required for referencing) and the fields below are
optional (they are not required by most referencing styles). It is still beneficial to you to
fill in some of these fields -
abstract, keywords, notes
5.
Click in the field box and a plain-text editor box will appear. Type the information into
the editor. When you click on another field box, the information will be automatically
saved.

Authors must be typed in the format last name comma space first names
e.g. West

Rachel
o
All authors must be listed and separated with a semi colon ";"
e.g. West, Rachel
;
Crocker, Sharee
;
Kaleva, Daniela
6.

to select the group you want your
reference saved to.
