CREATING ASSESSMENTS IN BLACKBOARD 6 Test Manager The Test Manager feature creates and organizes surveys and exams. Exam results can be graded and recorded in the online Gradebook. NOTE: It is more efficient to create your questions in the Pool Manager first and then use the Test tool from the Content Area sections (Course Syllabus, Course Materials, and Assignments) to make the assessment available. Pool Manager The Pool Manager feature allows instructors to store questions for repeated use. Pools are course specific although pools from other courses can be imported. Note: A student cannot view a Pool until it has been added into a survey, or exam and assigned through the Content Area sections (Course Syllbus, Course Materials, and Assignments) Add Other pull-down list or the Test link. Add Pool From the Control Panel: 1. Click on the Pool Manager link in the Assessment section. 2. Click on the Add Pool button. 3. Type the name of the pool in the Name field, the description in the Description field, and the instructions in the Instructions field. 4. Test Manager
The Test Manager feature creates and organizes surveys and exams.
Exam results can be graded and recorded in the online Gradebook.
NOTE: It is more efficient to create your questions in the Pool
Manager first and then use the Test tool from the Content Area
sections (Course Syllabus, Course Materials, and Assignments) to
make the assessment available.
Pool Manager
The Pool Manager feature allows instructors to store questions for

Note: A student cannot view a Pool until it has been added into a
survey, or exam and assigned through the Content Area sections
(Course Syllbus, Course Materials, and Assignments) Add Other

Add Pool
From the Control Panel:
1. Click on the Pool Manager link in the Assessment
section.
2. Click on the Add Pool button.
3. Type the name of the pool in the Name field, the
description in the Description field, and the instructions in
the Instructions field.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the
Submit button.
5. Choose a question type from the Add Question pull

Question Types
Multiple Choice
1. Type the question into the Question Text field.
2. Choose the number of answers in the Number of Answers pull
down list.
3. Type the answers into the Answer field and click on the Correct
box next to the correct answer.
4. Click on the Remove button next to the Answer if not needed.
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.

True/False
1. Type the question into the Question Text field.
2. Click on the Correct Answer button, next to the Answer Values of
True/False.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.
Multiple Answer
1. Type the question into the Question Text field.
2. Choose the number of answers in the Number of
Answers pull down list.
3. Type the answers into the Answer field and click
on the Correct box next to the correct answers.
4. Click on the Remove button next to the Answer

Fill in the Blank
1. Type the question into the Question Text field.
2. Choose the number of answers in the Number of
Answers pull down list.
3. Type the answers into the Answer field.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click
the Submit button.
Essay
1. Type the question into the Question Text field.
2. Enter an example of an answer, to assist graders,
in the Answer field.
3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click
the Submit button.
From Question Pool or Assessment
1. Click on the pool/assessment in the Pool/Assessment field.
2. Click on the Question Types box(s).
3. Click the Search button.
4. Select the question.
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Submit button.

A: If you would like to type a Correct or Incorrect Response for each
question, then you would do so in this field. Students would be able to
view your response when they see their graded Exam.

Survey Manager (For Statistical use only)
The Survey Manager feature allows you to give anonymous surveys,
such as professor evaluations and course evaluations. The Survey
Manager offers the same question types that are offered for regular
exams, but answers are not viewable, only statistics on overall
response.
From the Control Panel:
1. Click on the Survey Manager link in the Assessment section.
2. Click on the Add Survey button.3. Click the Submit button.

4. Add question type from the Add Question pull down list.
5. Click on the Go button.
6. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the Save
button.

Q: How do I make my survey available?
A: You can make your survey available by clicking on Assignments
from the Content Area portion of the Control Panel. Look for the
Survey option in the Add Other pull-down list. Select your survey
from the list offered, and click the Submit button. Click the OK button
to finish making your survey available.
