West Dorset District Council is a largely rural district with a large area of outstanding natural beauty and includes the towns of Dorchester, Sherborne, Bridport, Lyme Regis, Beaminster and Chickerell. 2. The population of the district is growing and is currently 95,000. A higher than average number of people are of pensionable age. 3.3 per cent of the population are non-white or non-British.
