Chapter 1 | THE HUNTERS
Pettra teaches her brother Bruff to hunt deer in the woods. They return to their hamlet.
Chapter 2 | BANDITS!
Bandits have burned the hamlet and killed the children’s
family. Pettra finds the Token. They must leave for the Great Stones.
Chapter 3 | INTO THE FOREST
Pettra and Bruff run away from Judoc the Druid into the forest. They hide in a tree.
Chapter 4 | BAREFOOT AND ALONE
The children start their journey to the Great Stones. They travel for many days. Bruff gets tired. They are circled by wolves.
Chapter 5 | WOLVES!
Hunters rescue Pettra and Bruff from the wolves. They take the children to their village to be slaves.
Chapter 6 | SLAVERY
One day a mysterious man brings beautiful cloth to the village. He offers it in exchange for the two children. It is Judoc the Druid.
Chapter 7 | THE RETURN OF JUDOC
Judoc leads the children away from the village. They are scared, but Judoc is kind. Bruff becomes sick. Judoc has a story to tell.
Chapter 8 | THE TOKEN
Judoc tells Pettra the story of the Token. He guides her and Bruff to the Great Stones. The Great Druid sees the Token.

TO THE READER
The Mystery of the Stones takes place in Britain over 4,000 years ago. We don’t know much about that time because Britons couldn’t read or write. But we can wonder at their monuments, like the mighty Stonehenge, and a few long-lasting artefacts that have also survived. To write a story set in prehistoric times, therefore, I had to make up the characters and use my imagination to fill the gaps in our understanding.
