THE HISTORY FILE

NEW WORDS
TO THE READER

The Mystery of the Masks takes place in Athens, the most important city in ancient Greece, around 350 BCE. All the characters in the book are made up, but the setting is real. The annual drama competition, for example, was part of Athens’ Great Dionysia festival. I hope an exciting story in a real setting will help bring this wonderful period of history alive for you.
