Chapter 1 | MY ONLY SON
Damatria, a Spartan mother, begins her story. Her son Leon is born.
Chapter 2 | THE SOLDIER
Leon trains to be a proud and ferocious Spartan warrior. Damatria worries at the change in him.
Chapter 3 | WAR!
King Xerxes of Persia invades Greece, King Leonidas of Sparta is chosen to lead the Greeks against the invader, and Leon prepares for war.
Chapter 4 | SO PROUD OF ME
In a letter to his mother, Leon explains what is happening on the battle front.
Chapter 5 | BACKS TO THE WALL
The Persians attack the Greek army defending the Pass of Thermopylae. The Greeks beat off all attacks.
Chapter 6 | THE TRAITOR
A traitor tells Xerxes about a mountain path that will allow the Persians to get behind the Greeks.
Chapter 7 | SURROUNDED
Most of the Greeks leave. The remainder, led by King Leonidas, choose to fight to the death.
Chapter 8 | WHY I AM SAD
Leonidas’ Greeks are wiped out. Damatria mourns Leon’s death and questions Sparta’s values.
